Doomsday Prepper's
The show that has caught my attention since I got Hulu is Doomsday Prepper's. If you have never seen it I'll fill you in. So, you are a family living in "wherever", city, suburb, off grid, in a hole in a tree.... Now, you let National Geographic come in & show everyone where your food storage & guns are located. There was a Dr. who had stored medicine & medical supplies, pain killers included. It was told that he lives with his family in a sleepy community just outside "somewhere". The city was actually told. The outside of his house was shown. No one will EVER be able to find this guy, GEEZE! An elderly couple showed the location of every hand gun they own. "See, right here in my bedside drawer, one in the pouch in my barkalounger" & so on. My Question is 'WHY'?
Not all of us prep for the end of the world. We don't have enough food for a family of 4 to live on for 10 yrs. We don't have the room or the money to do it. These folks are going to the extreme & it seems to consume every aspect of their lives.
I for one will not disclose where I have anything located. There are too many thieves. Sometimes being silent is the best thing. So if National Geographic starts doing new Prepper shows I will not be one of the people opening up my home & life to tell what plans I have in effect.

Taking Some Down Time
I have had some health issues that have really slowed me down this summer to the point of not getting alot done. Because of that I figured that trying to kill myself by overdoing was not how I needed to recoop. I have so much outside work to do but my energy level is almost gone so instead of trying to do more than I can right now I have been laying low. Sometimes it just has to be. I will be turning 60 soon & with the health problems I need a break.
Yesterday I spent the morning catching up on laundry & watching Steve McQueen in "The Great Escape." I've been in love with him since I was a child. This afternoon I watched a movie about Duane Allman & ABB. Hulu & Netflix might be my new friends.
I have tried to fight the fatigue that I have had but just have had to give in to it & try to do what I can when I can. Getting older really does suck. My Grandmother always said that I worked harder than any Man she'd ever seen, but those days are long gone & it's hard to deal with that.
Being Mom to a 6 yr old while being so tired is very hard. Her schedule is busy & I don't always feel like trying to keep up but I do it for her. She deserves it. Life is slowing down. I miss being 35...

Getting Ready For Winter
I am a person who plans at least 1 season ahead. In late spring I am already planning for fall. Christmas gets bought in summer & right around Thanksgiving I start planning the next years garden. This year I have been moving a little slower but have been trying to keep to my schedule.
Christmas is bought. We only buy for Chicken Chick & my Husband & I usually don't get each other anything. Our gift is a nice calm day & maybe a drive in the country.
Canning & brewing are done & the bounty is stored in the pantry. Propane & wood are ready.Hats & coats are clean. Craft supplies are stocked. My winter knitting is sitting out.
There are a few jobs left to do. I am working on cleaning out the garden a little at a time & my flower beds are in terrible need of some work. The basement is a disaster as usual & I'd love to have some help cleaning it but it's not worth the battle.
I actually like winter & look forward to it. Of course since I am on the property all of the time I don't have to get out in bad weather so I am very lucky to be able to stay in. I am as ready as I can be & am looking forward to the first cold morning.

Morning Clothing Choice By Chicken Chick
So, my dear 6 yr old daughter got ready for school this morning & was so proud of the clothes she'd picked out. I took one look, told her it looked good & off she went. She was wearing a multi colored shirt full of peace signs & a striped skirt. Clash big time! She is a child who usually has to be color coordinated down to her socks, but can come up with some doosy outfits. We sometimes do tutu's with pajama tops for the weekends.Since she has an old hippy/ boho Mom I shouldn't be surprised. Today she was very mis-matched, but happy. That's all that matters. I have learned to pick my battles. I'm sure her teacher will have a chuckle or two.
